Published by FM7 Window Tinting – Wairau & Albany, North Shore Auckland
If you’ve just had your car windows tinted and noticed some water bubbles under the film, don’t panic! This is one of the most common questions we get at FM7 Window Tinting:
👉 “Are water bubbles after tinting normal—and will they go away?”
✅ Yes, It’s Completely Normal
Right after installation, it's typical to see small water bubbles or hazy areas on your tinted windows. These bubbles are not air, but moisture trapped between the window glass and the tint film during the application process. At FM7, we apply tint using a wet method that ensures smooth alignment and proper bonding—but it also means a short drying period is required.
⏱ How Long Does It Take for Bubbles to Disappear?
Depending on the weather and how often the vehicle is exposed to sunlight, the bubbles will usually disappear within 2 to 10 days. In colder or rainy conditions (like winter in Auckland), curing may take a little longer.
Pro Tip: Park your car in direct sunlight when possible to speed up the drying process.
🚫 What You Should Not Do
-
Don’t try to push the bubbles out yourself—this can damage the film.
-
Don’t roll down your windows for at least 48 hours after installation.
-
Don’t wash your windows with any cleaner until the film is fully cured.
